How it works
Botulinum toxin type A works by selectively and temporarily blocking the release of acetylcholine at the junction between nerve and muscle. Without that stimulus, the treated muscle relaxes, softening dynamic wrinkles without affecting neighboring muscles.
The same principle is used to treat a gummy smile: by selectively relaxing the muscles that lift the upper lip, the toxin reduces the exaggerated lip elevation during a smile.
Protocol and results
The application is quick, performed in-office, with fine needles at points defined during the personalized consultation. The first effects appear between 3 and 5 days, with peak result around day 14.
The result is natural, safe and can be permanent, provided it is sustained with small periodic touch-ups.
