Post-Operative Care

You invested in your surgery and now you want the best possible result — with less swelling, less pain and a smoother recovery. This care makes all the difference.

The concern

Understand what is behind it

After plastic surgery, the body enters a recovery period that can be uncomfortable and full of doubts. The swelling takes time to subside, bruises appear, the fear arises that some spot might harden — and the eagerness to see the final result is intense. It is a delicate phase, in which every bit of care counts so that the surgery delivers everything it promises.

Every surgery — liposuction, abdominoplasty, implants, breast surgery — provokes a natural response from the body: edema (swelling), bruising and the possible formation of fibrosis, which are areas of hardening and nodules in the scar tissue. Letting this phase run without follow-up can prolong the discomfort and, in some cases, compromise the aesthetic result.

Good post-operative follow-up is not a luxury: it is part of the treatment. It speeds up recovery, brings more comfort and helps ensure that the effort of the surgery translates into the best result.

What we offer

The most modern and effective options

At Instituto Splendore, post-operative care is an aesthetic physiotherapy conducted in tune with your surgeon. It combines manual Lymphatic Drainage, which channels the accumulated fluids and reduces swelling and bruising; Carboxytherapy, the application of carbon dioxide gas that improves local oxygenation and circulation and supports healing; and Radiofrequency, indicated judiciously to treat fibrosis and skin quality. Each technique comes in at the right moment of each phase.

There is no standard protocol: it depends on the surgery performed, the surgeon's guidance and your progress. That is why it is exclusive and personalized, defined during the assessment consultation with Dr. Chris Marchetti's team — which establishes when to begin (drainage usually starts early, once medically cleared), the frequency and which techniques to combine. The goal is always a more comfortable recovery, with less swelling, less fibrosis and supported healing.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Post-Operative Care

When can I start drainage after surgery?
Generally from the fourth day on, always with your surgeon's clearance. An early start helps reduce swelling and prevent fibrosis, but the exact timing depends on the type of surgery and your progress.
Does post-operative drainage hurt?
It is a gentle, specific massage, performed with a delicate technique so as not to strain the operated area. It usually brings relief and a sense of lightness, always respecting your sensitivity.
What is fibrosis and how is it treated?
It is the hardening or nodule that can form in the tissue during healing. It is treated with manual techniques, radiofrequency and other approaches, applied at the appropriate moment of recovery.
Does carboxytherapy help with healing?
Yes. Carbon dioxide gas improves local oxygenation and circulation, which supports healing, helps reabsorb bruising and improves skin quality.
Do you work together with my surgeon?
Yes. The protocol is conducted in tune with the guidance of the responsible surgeon, respecting each phase of your recovery.
