How it works

VelaShape combines four technologies in a single applicator: bipolar radiofrequency heats the skin and stimulates collagen production; infrared penetrates the deeper layers, heating the fatty tissue; vacuum suction favors lymphatic drainage, eliminating excess fluid; and mechanical massage stimulates local blood circulation.

Together, these four actions target cellulite at its different causes — fibrosis, fluid retention and impaired circulation — instead of treating a single isolated symptom.

Protocol and results

The initial protocol usually involves 4 to 6 sessions at weekly intervals, defined during the assessment consultation according to the degree of cellulite and each patient's goal. After this phase, monthly maintenance sessions help preserve the result in the first months and can later be spaced out to quarterly intervals.

Results appear progressively, with improved skin texture and reduced appearance of cellulite throughout the protocol — with no downtime between sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about VelaShape

How does VelaShape treat cellulite?
By combining radiofrequency, infrared, vacuum and mechanical massage, it acts on the different causes of cellulite at the same time — fibrosis, fluid retention and circulation — instead of treating just one isolated aspect.
How many sessions are needed?
The initial protocol is usually 4 to 6 weekly sessions, followed by monthly and then quarterly maintenance sessions — the exact number is defined during the assessment consultation.
Does VelaShape hurt?
No. The sensation is one of warmth and a suction massage, generally comfortable, with no need for anesthesia.
Do I need maintenance sessions?
Yes. After the initial protocol, monthly and then quarterly sessions help preserve the result over time.
Does VelaShape also help with localized fat?
Its main focus is cellulite and skin texture, but it can be part of a combined protocol with other technologies at the Institute for localized fat and body contouring.
Who cannot have VelaShape?
Pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic devices, sensitivity to radiofrequency or infrared, active infections in the region, or severe cardiac and circulatory diseases.
